5th China International Piano Competition to be hold in Xiamen:
Organised by the Ministry of Culture and Xiamen Municipal People's Government, the 5th China International Piano Competition will be held in Xiamen from 28th Oct. to 7th Nov. 2010.
The piano competition will be divided into four phases: try out, preliminary, semi-finals and finals. It is expected to attract hundreds of participants from home and abroad.
To ensure the quality of the competition, the organizing committee will invite renowned composer Wu Zuqiang to be the artistic director, and renowned pianist and educator Zhou Guangren to be the art consultant. Apart from this, 13 more renowned musicians from China, Germany, Britain, Italy, France, U.S.A., Russia, Georgia, S. Korea and S. Africa have been confirmed to be the judges for the 5th China International Piano Competition.
In addition, to commemorate the 200th anniversary birthday of the renowned musician Chopin, the 5th China International Piano Competition also will set up a special Chopin Prize for the most outstanding performance.
The China International Piano Competition is one of the 3 International Arts Competitions organised by the Ministry of Culture, it is held every 3 years. It's aim is to show the current education level of piano art, and promote the development of the nation's piano education and cooperation with foreign culture.
