Tips on How to Paint a Pet

Why do so many people want to convert the photos of their pet in to oil painting?Pet Portrait Oil Paintings Tips

Some of the reasons that they may want to paint their pets are as following:

To capture their pets at a particular age, in a particular pose, in a particular place. To have a permanent reminder of their companions when they have moved on to pet afterlife. To give as a gift to a fellow pet lover.

You may deem that it's quite difficult to paint a pet, as you are no Van Gough. But, my friend, don't worry. You know how to handle a paint brush! You have all the materials that you need in order to paint your pet, the paints, brushes, stuff for cleaning, you even have a home made easel. It sure is going to be fun to paint your pet.

There she is, curled up asleep by the window, a look of cat contentment upon her face and the sunlight giving her coat an extra gloss. What a magnificent painting of your pet you are going to produce. Quietly you set everything up, you have your canvas propped on your easel and your paintbrush in hand. Then, you begin your work.....

Hereunder is several tips for you to pay attention to while painting:

1. Observe different poses of the same animal to learn the features and characteristics of that type of animal before you start painting.

2. Pay more attention on painting the eye of pet. Eyes are the windows to the soul. To paint eyes well can bring a lifelik quality to your pet portrait.

3.  Ears are part of a pet's expression. Ears twist and turn in different directions to help the animal express joy, sadness, fears and other emotions.

4.  Noses and mouths present unique characteristics of each pet.

At last you finish the painting. Time to inspect your art work. You turn and look and your jaw drops. Well it could be some kind of animal, those lines in purple do seem to represent a tail. And that is an eye, no mistake about that, but whatever eye it is, it's not your pet's eye! At least you have tried to paint your pet. Don't think of it as a failure, after all you did produce something, and who knows, your pet at least, may have enjoyed the experience!
